Reception & Canteen Fit Out

Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service contacted Source One on a Design and Consultancy basis, to develop visuals and colour palette recommendations for their Reception Area and Canteen.

After working with them on the designs, they then appointed us to complete the furniture fit out.

Design inspiration

The Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue were looking for visuals and colour palette recommendations for their Reception Area and Canteen and contacted Source One for design and consultancy support.

As part of the design process we completed 2D and 3D visuals for all the areas, as well as creating mood boards and samples.

In a digital world, a mood board may seem a little low tech but what better way to get a real feel for an office design. In these boards we included floor plans, 3D images, images of office furniture solutions, fabrics, carpet samples, wood finishes and more… all so the client could see the real feel and colours rather than a computer simulation.

Design leads to furniture fit out

Working with the Fire Service team was a pleasure and so we were delighted to then be appointed to complete the furniture fit out at the Kempston station.

Reception

In the Reception, we installed a new reception desk, with white and Nebraska oak finishes.

This was complimented with a grey and purple sofa set for the waiting area, and matching Nebraska oak coffee table.

Canteen / Mess

In the canteen, we fitted a new poseur height worktop with vinyl seatpad bar stools.

All the tables supplied for the canteen were flip tops, sitting on castors – these are ideal for flexible use of space as they are easy to move as and when needed.

The chairs are easy wipe down chairs, with the LaFilo chair range with blue/green vinyl seat pads that complemented the colour palette.

Meeting booths & soft furniture

We also installed a couple of four person meeting booths, that create a great place for ad-hoc meetings/discussions even in large open rooms.

In addition we supplied a selection of soft seating including two and three seater sofas and some breakout ‘cubes’ – the Jolly range of small, lightweight breakout cubes add extra quick seating as well as a bit of fun & colour… perfect for this environment!

Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides emergency response, prevention and protection services across the county as well as across our borders in support of our neighbouring communities.

To protect the communities and respond to emergency calls they have 14 strategically positioned Fire Stations and an Emergency Communication Centre.

There are five wholetime stations, crewed 24 hours a day, at Luton, Stopsley, Dunstable, Bedford and Kempston. The fire stations at Bedford and Kempston are also supported by Retained Duty System (RDS) personnel.
