Our approach
Most clients come to us not entirely sure what they need. They know something about their space is not working, or they have a move coming up, or they have been putting off a refurbishment for longer than they should.
That is fine. It is where most projects begin.
Here is what working with Source One actually looks like.
The process
STEP 1: Let’s talk
Every successful project starts with a conversation.
Get in touch by phone or email and tell us what is happening. We will ask a few straightforward questions about your business, your space, what is not working, what you would like to achieve and roughly when you are hoping to do it.
You do not need a detailed specification or a fully formed plan. A simple conversation is usually enough to understand the project and agree the next steps.
STEP 2: Understanding your space
This is where the real conversation begins.
We will visit your existing workplace and take the time to understand not only how the space is being used today, but how it could work better. We will ask about your team, the way your business operates, future growth plans, what causes daily frustration and what absolutely needs to stay. We spend far more time listening than talking at this stage, because understanding your business is just as important as understanding the building.
We will also carry out a full measured survey, so every layout and design we produce is based on accurate dimensions rather than assumptions.
STEP 3: Developing the design
Using the information gathered, we develop layout options.
Depending on the project, this might include 2D CAD drawings, space planning and 3D visualisations to help you understand how the finished space could look and function. We refine the design together until it works – not just on paper, but for the people who will use it every day.
Design and space planning is part of our overall service. It is not a separate charge.
STEP 4: Clear costs and scope
Once the preferred design is agreed, we prepare a detailed scope of works alongside a clear, transparent quotation.
Clients should understand exactly what they are paying for. If there are opportunities to phase the project, adjust the specification or identify better value alternatives, we will discuss them openly so decisions can be made before work begins.
No surprises. No hidden extras. Honest conversations.
STEP 5: Planning the project
Before work starts, we plan every stage of the programme carefully.
Trades, suppliers, deliveries, furniture, materials and specialist contractors are all coordinated in advance. Where businesses remain operational throughout, we plan around you – evening or weekend working where needed, phased programmes, temporary relocations within the building or carefully sequenced works to minimise disruption.
STEP 6: Delivering the project
Once work begins, you have one dedicated project lead from the first site visit through to completion. In many cases that will be Lisa or Chloe, giving you a single, senior point of contact throughout.
We coordinate every trade, manage deliveries, resolve problems before they become issues and keep you informed without overwhelming you with unnecessary updates. If we need a decision from you, we explain clearly what is required. If we can resolve something ourselves, we do.
Many clients tell us afterwards that the project was far less disruptive than they expected. That is not luck. It is planning, communication and experience.
STEP 7: Handover and beyond
By the time we reach completion, there should be very little left to resolve.
Rather than leaving snagging until the end, we deal with issues as work progresses wherever possible. The right trades are still on site, adjustments can be made immediately and quality is maintained throughout rather than saved for the final few days. This keeps the project moving and delivers a smoother, more efficient handover.
Before handover, we walk through the completed space with you to make sure everything meets your expectations. Any final items are agreed and resolved promptly.
If your project involved relocating your business, we make sure you are fully operational before considering the project complete.
What you will not have to deal with
Chasing contractors. Coordinating deliveries. Managing a programme you did not sign up to manage. Deciding between suppliers you have never worked with. Dealing with problems on site while trying to run your own business.
That is all ours. It is what we are here for.
What we need from you
A clear brief, or at least a clear sense of the problem. Availability for a site visit and a design conversation. Reasonably prompt feedback at key decision points so the programme does not stall.
That is genuinely it. The rest is our job.
“Lisa and her team completed the project in a very professional and customer focused manner. The office looks fantastic and the ongoing facilities support has been invaluable.“
