Laser 2000

One room empty, one bursting at the seams

Source One were approached by Laser 2000 to make some changes to their ground floor office layout.

They had two separate rooms next to each other, one of which was relatively empty, and the other which seemed to be bursting at the seams!

That’s is not an uncommon issue in lots of office space, particularly in businesses that have been in the same location for a period of time.

We met with the Laser 2000 team on site and, after discussing the issues, we identified that the removal of a wall and some changes to the furniture would make better use of the available space.

Following a brief office design and space planning process, including floor plans and 2d designs, we were able to undertake an office refit.

Fitout completed outside of working hours

Laser 2000 did not have the space to temporarily re-locate members of staff from the Ground Floor office.

It was also not possible to work during normal business hours without disrupting them.

Therefore, it was decided that works would be completed out of working hours and over a weekend.

Scope of works

The scope of works, see below, was large when trying to complete in a 55 hour window, but Source One are always up for the challenge!

• Removal of existing furniture and ethically disposed
• Removal of existing carpet tiles and ethically disposed
• Re-location of power sockets, data points and light switch from wall to be removed to the adjacent wall
• Removal of stud wall and doorway, making good to walls and ceiling via tape and jointing
• Installation of new wall in Boardroom area to create a small corridor for Small Parts and Testing, then skimmed and decorated
• Installation of 4 x new doors to reach 60 minute fire rating as required
• Full decoration works of office
• Installation of new carpet tiles throughout the office
• Installation of new office furniture throughout the office
• Installation of new vertical blinds to external windows
