What the project involved...

The brief from the client was to remove the ‘hatch’ type wall, install a 50mm demountable partition to create a storage area, lay new flooring, decorate and supply furniture throughout the reception area. The first two images show the areas prior to works, with the rest showing the work through to completion.

When the hatch wall was removed, we had to make good the skirting and ceiling, as well as remove and re-locate the burglar alarm, door entry system and the trunking used to power the reception desk and phone.

The client has limited outside space and so we utilised a wait and load service to remove the rubbish created on site (image 7).

As part of the makeover, we introduced a funky curve into the reception area to visually section off the receptionist area and the waiting area. This was also reflected in the reception desk which can be seen in the final image after the furniture was installed.

With regards to power and data, we relocated the trunking to behind the tall cupboard, and then in further trunking we installed an under desk power module (this basically acts as a floor box for the receptionist - we could not install a floor box as it was a concrete subfloor, so we have created the next best thing!).

The cable visibly hanging down in the picture (image 13) was for the alarm, which had not been installed at this point. Once the furniture was installed, the alarm was relocated and the wires neatly concealed.

Finally, the door entry system was moved so that it is accessible for the receptionist and hidden from others.
